CONNECTION!! most speakers paid less attention of being connected with the audience. Unknowingly the Connections count the most. I would love to hear more of your blogs. I find it informative and helpful as well.

EVERYTHING must be in sync!

The way your look.
Your message.
Your verbal communication.
Your non-verbal communication.
Hopefully, the venue you are presenting in.

EVERYTHING must deliver the same message!

Thanks for the Post!

Shari
First, I am delighted to find that this touched your heart! Your blog so richly expressed the truth for better than me. Your puzzle pieces are just a stroke of genius. I have verbally used that analogy many times, but never graphically. I have used my fingers intertwining to create the visual at the moment, but the lasting tangible graphic visual is truly ... puzzle pieces. Well done!
I wish you continued success, which I am certain you'll experience. As the book comes together I will surely remember my buddy in Oklahoma, and who knows I may be calling for assistance.
You're a Gift and Treasure young lady, and blessed are those who get to enjoy moments with you.
Thanks for taking the time to send this little email and blog to me. As you know, one rarely gets the opportunity to hear or see where they may have planted a seed. I guess it's biblical, there's a time to plant, and a time to sow, and time to harvest, and most of the times you don't get to harvest what you have planted.
So, thank you ... keep planting those seeds ... and for God's sakes stay warm!

Best to ya ...

Hi Sharí,

Wonderful article about the costs of poor communication in organizations. Negative outcomes to all of these costs are lack of trust and respect among employees and leaders... which makes for a very strained work environment.

I wholeheartedly agree, learning how to honestly feedback and communicate is a skill everyone can get better at!

I recently stumbled upon the following article that states that Communication Skills is the #1 skill sought by employers (especially for GenYs). Top Skills Employers Want and New Graduates Lack http://www.resumebear.com/blog/index.php/2009/05/21/top-skills-employers-want-and-new-graduates-lack/

Thanks again for a great post!

I'm not sure I completely agree with you - though you certainly DO have a point. The point I'd add, I guess, is that without any judgement at all, you can't tell if you're improving. Sure you shouldn't be afraid and shouldn't allow judgement to limit you and belittle you and so on (absolutely!) but that's not quite the same thing as never judging.

If you don't at least 'review your progress' (a kind of judgement) you'll never understand if you're growing as a presenter....

.....or something like that! :)
